Silabeador TIP

Silabeador TIP is a syllable splitter for the Spanish language created by the Instituto Universitario de Análisis y Aplicaciones Textuales of the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It takes into account the general rules of separation of syllables and formation of consonant groups, diphthongs, triphthongs and hiatuses that can be found in the following sources: Nueva gramática de la lengua española, Espasa Calpe (2009); DPD-RAE-2005, Diccionario panhispánico de dudas de la Real Academia Española – 1ª edición (2005); and Ortografía de la Lengua Española, edición revisada por las Academias de la Lengua Española y publicada por la Real Academia Española (1999).

The Wikipedia Corpus

The Wikipedia Corpus contains the full text of the English version of Wikipedia, totalling 1.9 billion words in more than 4.4 million articles. It allows you to search Wikipedia in a much more powerful way than is possible with the standard interface. You can search by word, phrase, part of speech, and synonyms. You can also find collocates (nearby words), and see re-sortable concordance lines for any word or phrase.

MIT Writing and Communication Center Resources

The Writing and Communication Center Resources of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology offer advice on the writing process in general and specific advice on writing research papers. The site also includes sections on grammar, style, oral presentation and visuals, and how to avoid plagiarism.

UPC English Style Guide

The UPC English Style Guide is a set of guidelines on writing institutional and academic texts in English at the University. It is part of the UPC’s Llibre d’estil lingüístic. The content of these guidelines is taken from the Vives University Network’s Interuniversity Style Guide for Writing Institutional Texts, an interuniversity project in which the UPC participated with the support of the Secretariat for Universities and Research of the Government of Catalonia.

Dictionary of Ophthalmology

The Dictionary of Ophthalmology was compiled by Dr Philipp Franko Zeitz of Fachärzte für Augenheilkunde in Düsseldorf and staff of the Institute for Computational Linguistics at the University of Düsseldorf.  It currently covers 13 languages and  has 24405 terms, 1867 images and 5048 abbreviations and acronyms.
