Federal Plain Language Guidelines

Plain language (also called Plain English) is communication your audience can understand the first time they read or hear it. The Plain Language Guidelines help authors to write clearly for publication on paper or on the web. The site also has links to other resources such as words and expressions to avoid, checklists to ensure that your writing is suited to the target audience and examples of good and bad writing.
